Grief & Loss Counseling

Compassionate Support for Life’s Most Difficult Goodbyes

Loss changes us. Whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or another life-altering change, grief can shake our sense of self, purpose, and stability. You may feel sadness, anger, guilt, confusion or nothing at all. Grief has no single “right” way of showing up, and it has no set timeline.

At Clark Counseling Services, we provide a safe and understanding space to navigate the complex emotions and adjustments that follow loss.

When to Seek Support

Grief counseling can help if you are:

  • Coping with the death of a loved one, family member, friend, or pet

  • Struggling after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infertility

  • Navigating a breakup, divorce, or estranged relationship

  • Adjusting to the loss of a job, home, health, or independence

  • Feeling “stuck” in grief months or years after the loss

  • Experiencing complicated grief or trauma related to the loss

  • Struggling to balance grief with work, caregiving, or other life demands

You don’t have to carry the weight of loss alone.

Our Approach to Grief Counseling

We understand that grief is deeply personal there’s no “one-size-fits-all” way to heal. Our therapists offer:

  • A safe, nonjudgmental space to share your story

  • Psychoeducation about the grief process so you can better understand what you’re experiencing

  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques to manage overwhelming emotions

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address unhelpful thought patterns or guilt

  • Narrative and meaning-making approaches to help integrate the loss into your life story

  • Ritual and memorial guidance for honoring your loved one or loss in personal ways

When needed, we also incorporate trauma-informed care to address losses that were sudden, violent, or deeply traumatic.

What to Expect

In grief counseling, you can expect:

  • A space where all emotions are welcome

  • Support in expressing your grief without fear of judgment or “burdening” others

  • Help in navigating life changes brought on by the loss

  • Tools for coping with anniversaries, holidays, and other triggering moments

  • Encouragement to find meaning, hope, and connection at your own pace

Inclusive and Affirming

We work with clients from all cultural, spiritual, and personal backgrounds, honoring the unique ways people grieve and find healing.

Healing Doesn’t Mean Forgetting

Grief changes shape over time, but it never fully disappears and that’s okay. Our goal is not to erase your grief, but to help you carry it in a way that allows for both honoring your loss and continuing to live fully.

Take the Next Step

If you’re struggling with the pain of loss, you don’t have to face it alone. We’re here to walk alongside you in the journey toward healing, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose.
